Wilisha Janee Johnson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilisha Johnson, affectionately known as "Pooh Bear," who was born to LaTunja Nelson and Willie Johnson on February 17, 1991. She was the cherished oldest sibling among eight siblings.

Wilisha was a woman of remarkable intelligence and gifted abilities. From the tender age of seven, she earned the nickname "The Professor" due to her exceptional intellect. Her educational journey began at Carmichael School in Carmichael, California, followed by Winston Churchill Middle School and Del Campo High School, as well as La Entrada in Carmichael. Her academic pursuits reflected her dedication to knowledge and personal growth.

As the mother of Samahjay Johnson, Wilisha poured her creativity into making crafts and indulging in her love for coloring. Her artistic talents extended to designing rooms and clothing with minimal supplies, showcasing a unique flair for arts and crafts.

Wilisha's warm spirit and genuine care for people of all walks of life set her apart. She faced and triumphed over challenges that seemed insurmountable, finding herself in the best place her mother, LaTunja Nelson, had seen in a long time. Though she is now at rest in heaven, Wilisha's memory will live on, indelible and unforgettable.

She leaves behind a multitude of loved ones, including her mother LaTunja Nelson, stepfather Lonny Powell, brothers De’Andre Rogers, Artice Nelson-Fountain, Lonny Powell, Lontrel Powell, and Lorenzo Powell, and sisters ShaLonn Powell, Lonnasha Powell, and DaeLonna Hawkins. Her legacy continues through nephews Samir Powell and DeiJour Handley, nieces Da’Ziyah Rogers and DaeLynn Handley, and a vast extended family.

Wilisha's impact reached far and wide, touching the lives of a host of aunts, uncle, grandma, cousins, and friends. Among those who hold her dear are Covonna Hawkins, Karyn Nelson, Shonte Nelson, Tracie Ayers, and Joyce Nelson, uncle Artice Nelson (Trey), grandma Frances Powell, as well as a plethora of cousins including Karissa Harris (KH), Treyvon Nelson, Rocknie Nelson, Jaziah Quilter, Aniyah Quilter, Harper Moore Nelson, Kaliyah Burns, Breonna Williams, Virgil Wheeler, Covon Wheeler, Keith Marcus, Orlando Perez, Idell Johnson, Mikiea Ford, Jack Ford, Marquez Luton, and Tre Ayers.

Wilisha, "Pooh Bear," will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unique spirit and the love she shared with everyone around her.
