In memory of Vincent Daniel Avila, who died on June 1st,2024 at Kaiser Roseville.
He is survived by his sister Jacqui Bell of Sacramento, CA and Nieces Dana Enguehard-Benders of Wyoming and Jennifer Overhoff of Monrovia, CA. Nephew Timothy Macias of Los Angeles, CA. and numerous other family members throughout California.
Born in Madera, CA to Dan & Nellie Avila who raised their children in a barrio named Malaga in Fresno County until Dan accepted a job at Al Cheney Ford in Santa Cruz, CA. Nellie became a homemaker. Vince was a devout Catholic. He attended Holy Cross Elementary & High School. He briefly went to Cabrillo College in Scotts Valley, CA. He joined the United States Navy as a Seabee. He moved to Sacramento in the 1970’s and opened Sacramento Brokerage & Loan on J St. During this time, his clientele included several prominent lawmakers at the State Capitol. Vince followed in his parent’s footsteps by being a lifelong Democrat. Vince was described by his colleagues as Astute, Dependable, Persistent and Trustworthy. He worked for Weinstock’s as a collection agent then for N.C.O. Group and finally as account & billing Manager for Sutter, Mercy, and U.C. Davis. He was compassionate and empathetic to all of those around him, often he would do random acts of kindness like fostering rescue cats or giving his last dime to the unhoused. Vince was an avid golfer. In 1982, Golf Digest Magazine named him #100 in the nation. He enjoyed traveling to tournaments. He also loved classic rock or soul music, camping, hunting, fishing, and visiting friends in Murphy’s or the Lake Tahoe area.
