Veliborka (Maksimovic) Cvjetkovic May 13, 1978 – December 8, 2021 (43 years old) On December 8th, 2021, following a tough and challenging battle with cancer, our dearest Veliborka, mother, wife, sister, aunt and a friend, fell asleep in the Lord, her Savior. Veliborka grew up in Blizna, a small village near Zavidovici, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the civil war in Bosnia ended, along with her parents and brothers, she moved to Modrica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is here that in the summer of 2000 she met Zoran Cvjetkovic. After dating for a few years, they were married in August 2002. The following year, Veliborka was granted a fiancé visa and joined Zoran in Sacramento, California. After moving to the United States they started building a life together. Their family grew bigger and richer, with the birth of their son David in 2007, followed by their daughter Sofia, born in 2011. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Veliborka. She cherished spending time with her children, family, and friends, introducing them to customs and traditions she grew up with. Her conviction and faith in God was her guiding light and she shared that with her children as they were getting older, teaching them about Serbian holidays, language, and culture. She made sure they knew and practiced traditional Serbian dancing called Kolo. Veliborka loved being a host. Everyone was invited and welcomed to her house, and she always had Serbian food and desserts to share. Our dearest Veliborka, your life was cut short, but you lived it with conviction, honor, and pride. Those of us that were lucky enough to know you will remember your honestly, candidness, and will speak of you with pride. We are forever grateful for having had you in our lives and everything you’ve done for us. Rest in peace. Veliborka is survived by her husband, Zoran, children David and Sofia, brothers Milofinko and Velibor, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rado and Cvjeta. A prayer service will be held on Monday, December 20th at 6pm at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Serbian Orthodox Church (7777 Sunset Avenue, Fair Oaks, CA 95628) followed by refreshments at the Church Hall. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21st, starting at 10 am at the Serbian Church followed by burial at Fair Oaks Cemetery (7780 Olive Street, Fair Oaks, CA 95628). Memorial luncheon will be held after the burial at the Church Hall. The family asks for donations to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Serbian Orthodox Church as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
