Thomas A. Nohrden passed quietly in his sleep Saturday, May 9, 2020, following a short illness. An avid cribbage player, he earned the rank of Grand Master with the American Cribbage Conference and was an active member of the River City Peggers grassroots cribbage club. He retired from the Sacramento County Welfare Department after working as a deputy sheriff with Santa Cruz County and is an Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War. A sports enthusiast, he played softball throughout his adult life, ending his playing career with the Golden Seniors Softball Club of Sacramento. Preceded in death by his son Michael Nohrden, Thomas is survived by four other children, Patrick Nohrden of Reno, Nevada; Vivian Fitzgerald of Eureka, South Dakota; Irene Mulqueen of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Kathleen McGinnis of Ardmore, Oklahoma. He had 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery with military honors. Thomas will now be living in his new home with all those who have gone before, where we will all eventually see him again. Until then, he will be sorely missed.
