Thomas "Tom" Leo Murray Jr passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 at his home in Carmichael.
He was born July 24, 1940 in Lewistown, PA, the son of the late Marian (Nelson) and Thomas Leo Murray. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Margaret (Maguire) Murray and brother Robert Nelson Murray.
Tom graduated from Lewistown High School in 1958 and Joined the US Air Force in September of that year. He was a Morse Radio Intercept Operator in the USAF Security Service until his honorable discharge in June of 1963. (He extended his enlistment for 9 months due to the Cuban Missile Crisis.)
He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Camesao (Tony), Pamela Hudson (Hal) and Susan O'Keefe (Brian). Along with his 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, Tom was also survived by long time girlfriend Terri Brehman.
He earned an AA degree in Business Administration from Sacramento City College and a BS in Accounting from Sacramento State College. Tom worked for the state of California for 30 years.
Tom loved to work with wood, play with his drones, collecting coins and was starting to get into etching. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed camping, tennis and skiing in his younger days. His love for drawing, gadgets, tech and comics have been passed down to his grandkids. Some even have his great sense of humor.
We will be doing a Celebration of Life on February 17, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Please stop by Tom's house in Carmichael and share your memories.
