Steve M. Ghorley Stephen Marcus Ghorley Jr. was born in Sacramento, on November 7, 1968 to Margaret Forrest and Stephen Marcus Ghorley. He passed away while on a bike ride on March 27, 2020. Steve was 51 years of age. Steve grew up in Alturas on the XL Reservation with his family.He enjoyed life outdoors and could chop wood and shoot a .22 rifle like nobody’s business. He helped out on the ranch as well as worked at the Niles Hotel. He was competitive by nature and had a sense of humor. Steve ran track and played football in high school, and he helped coach softball. Steve’s competitive nature led him to carry out his passion for cycling by racing on different teams in the Sacramento area. He raced throughout the country and parts of Europe. Steve in his prime was among the fastest bike racers in the country. Many cyclists looked up to him as a great talent. While racing he spent time raising his son and stepson. He was well loved and had a heart of gold. Heather Chace was the absolute love of his life. They went on bike rides, hiking, went wine tasting, took rode trips, and attended baseball games together. He had a great love for coffee, bikes, beer, and friends. He enjoyed going to the State Fair, as well as playing fantasy football. Steve also had a talent for baking cookies and banana bread. He loved his family. He was passionate about his son Trent and enjoyed every moment they spent together. Steve is survived by his long time partner, Heather Chace and her daughter Marlee, his son Trent Ghorley, his mother Margaret Forrest, sister Neneekah Forrest and family (John and Kyle), his Aunt Mille Dunn, cousins Eric and Tara, and several other family members and friends There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date with details to follow.
