Stephen Tracy Adams

February 24, 1949 — November 4, 2024

Stephen Tracy Adams was born in 1949 to Ruth Ahlering Adams and Ralph Tracy Adams. He spent his early childhood in northern California, and youth in Pomona, California. He graduated from Ganesha High School and attended Harbor College and Long Beach State University. As a child, he was an excellent student, but as a youth, his interest in studying diminished as his interest in girls increased. Industrious and inventive, he could figure out how things worked and fix them. He learned how to care for and train hawks as a pre-teen. He kept mice and other small creatures for the hawks to eat. He would put bullfrogs in the bathtub to frighten his sisters. In high school he worked as a stable hand in nearby Chino, calling his job “equestrian sanitation engineer”. As a teen, he took old cars, fixed them up and re-sold them at a profit He learned how to fish with his Dad and they caught many trout during yearly camping trips to the High Sierras.

Steve was a skilled carpenter and woodworker. He worked in commercial construction, transitioning to building inspector for the County of Sacramento. He retired from the County and immediately enrolled in Folsom Lake College to get his A.A. degree. Steve knew a lot about how to do things and he shared his expertise willingly. If you needed a project done around the house, he was always willing to help. He did not suffer fools lightly. He kept in close touch with his building inspector friends, going on fishing trips with them around northern California. He loved Lake Tahoe and would kayak with his sister Cathy on the American River and at Lake Tahoe.

Steve learned how to be a gunsmith in the later years of his retirement. He could fix and repair antique rifles. A lifelong dog owner, he relented when Pasquale the beautiful long-haired cat adopted him. He said that Pasquale earned his cat food by killing mice.

Stephen is pre-deceased by his sister Susan Adams Munio and his nephew Daniel Munio. Stephen leaves his sister Cathy Adams Minicucci, his nephew John Munio (Brenda), David Munio, his brother-in-law (Audrey) and his niece Tracy Minicucci (Bridget). He also leaves his devoted friends The Taco Tuesday Bunch--Barry Hutchens, Mike Flanagan and Bill Hauschild. To honor Steve, friends are encouraged to enjoy the California rivers, lakes and forests and think of him.
