Shannon Rebecca Gonzalez

April 17, 1982 — December 28, 2019

It is with tremendous sadness to announce our vivacious, beautiful and loving Shannon Gonzalez has left us to become an Angel in Heaven. Born April 17th 1982 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away unexpectedly at the very young age of 37 on Saturday December 28, 2019 in Sacramento, CA where she was a long time resident. She is survived by her sons Donovan and Gabriel Kincaid. 1 fur child: C.J. Dog. Her Mom Sherry Hamshar-Hernandez, Dad Carl Sterkel and 3 sisters: Genevieve Gonzalez, Julia Hamshar, and Denise Beatty. Also 1 brother from another mother Michael Van Fossen. Known as Auntie by: Nieces Taliyah, Zamara and Jamie. 4 Nephews Joshua, Zaire, Kevin and Angelo. Grandma's Wanda, Virginia and Betty. Along with a host of extended family. She is preceded in death by her Grandpa's Victor and Carl. She will forever be loved and never forgotten. We will all miss her dearly. Especially her 2 sons that were her pride and joy. Her soul was so pure and gracious. She touched many lives in her short life. She was a light in a dark place and her smile lit up a room. As a child, she was involved in girl scouts, church youth group and persevered in the drill team. where she once earned the title of Captain. Shannon's first job was as a child care provider in a gym. Followed by working as a cashier for AVS. A gas station/service station. She was a hard worker and dedicated. This was shown by her commitment to her long-time Employment of 16 years with the State of California. She became a mother to 2 wonderful sons. Her whole world revolved around Donovan and Gabriel and taking care of her fur-child C.J. She will miss them growing up but her legacy will live on by the great photos and videos she made. She spent her free time making sure her sons knew they were loved and how to enjoy life. And she took her fur child everywhere she went. One of her greatest pleasures in life was family times. Spending time with them brought her joy. She found great pleasure in giving back to others. This was displayed on mission trips to Mexico, donating blood and hair to Locks for Love. She enjoyed fishing, camping, arts and crafts, concerts, barbecuing, adventures, attending church and spending quality time with her Nieces and Nephews. She had a passion for snowboarding, creating memories, bringing her Sons Joy, Love, and Happiness and above all this a passion for Jesus. Displayed on her Facebook , which speaks volumes, is the following: Jesus first, my sons next, be nice, don't hate, spread love. #lovealways #smileoften #keepitreal
