A First Class scout, Louise went on to serve in many capacities; from troop leader to council member, and helped establish a thriving Girl Scout program in the Reno/Tahoe area in which all her daughters became First Class scouts. A member of the United Church of Christ (UCC) since 1961, she was a firm supporter of the denomination's open and affirming goals. She joined Squaw Valley Chapel UCC in 1966, and was later active in its reopening by the congregation in the 1990s, then served as wedding coordinator for many years.
