Rudy Worthington

Rudy Worthington of Fair Oaks aged 81 years passed away peacefully at his home in Fair Oaks on December 29th, 2018. Dearly beloved husband of Helen, much loved father of Sharon, Teresa, Danny and Michael, and grandchildren Amanda, Kendra, and Mckenna. Rudy was born on the family farm near Blue Rapids, Kansas to Mary and Oliver Worthington. He was their sixth child. Rudy graduated valedictorian of his class from Onaga high School. It was there that he met Helen. Rudy and Helen were married at Visitation Church on Sept 24th, 1959. Shortly after, they moved to Sacramento, CA in their 57 Ford Convertible. Rudy started working with Union Oil company in 1961. He left Union Oil and became an automotive instructor in 1973 with the Sacramento Regional Occupation Program for the next 26 years. During his time with ROP he became an ASE certified master mechanic and taught high school students, adults and Marine Corp. He was awarded the Sacramento County teacher of the year in 1988. After he retired from ROP, he continued to work part-time teaching automotive classes at Sierra College for another 17 years. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a viewing at Sierra View Funeral Chapel, 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael on Wednesday, January 9th from 6 to 8 pm. A service be held at the same location the next day on Thursday, January 10th at 11 am, with the burial at the Fair Oaks Cemetery to follow.
