Roy Lee Young was born in Decherd, Tennessee, on November 28, 1937. He was the youngest of three children born to Nora Moore Young. After moving to Madison County, Alabama, where Roy attended Hazel Green High School, the family eventually settled in California. Roy worked for the federal government at McClellan Air Force Base until his retirement in 1987. Roy was the ultimate do-it-yourselfer. If anything could be fixed rather than replaced, he insisted on doing so (as evidenced by the 40+ year old microwave oven that is still in use to this day). Roy was an excellent mechanic, an accomplished woodworker, and a very talented all-around craftsman. Roy was an avid golfer, playing nearly every day until he was no longer able. Roy is preceded in death by his brother, William Daniel Young, and his sister, Judith Margaret (Young) Staben. Roy leaves behind his wife, Linda, his son, Raymond, and his granddaughter, Kelly, as well as his son from a previous marriage, Roy Dale.
