Robert Allen Harford

Robert Allen Harford, better known as Bob or Skipper, passed away in Sacramento California, on February 13, 2022 surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born to Robert and Audrey Harford, on April 7, 1942 in Lodi California. Bob is the older son of two boys, growing up on a family chicken ranch in the central valley. Once Robert finished high school he decided he had had enough of the chickens and decided to get an education in cosmetology. Shortly after getting his certificate he was drafted into the United States Army where he went overseas and fought in the Vietnam War, where earned the Silver Star during the Tet Offensive. Upon returning to civilian life Bob went about the job of living his life with his beautiful wife and soon became a father. Bob spent 43 years working and running his hair salon The Hair and I, until he retired in 2015. Bob married Virginia “Ginger”, the love of his life in 1962, who survives him. They had one son Robert “Tony” in 1971 who they raised in the Arden Arcade area of Sacramento. Bob is also survived by his son Tony and his wife Michele, as well as his grandchildren Naomi, Alyssa, and Zachary, and his brother Dwight. Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert and Audrey. Bob was known around the San Francisco Bay as one of the nicest andfierce Express 37 competitors. He loved to share his knowledge with new sailors teaching them tips and tricks, as well as hanging at the yacht club talking about the races that had happened that day. His love for sailing and the sport of sailboat racing could be seen across his face every time you saw him.
