Raquel Ofelia Paez

June 5, 1938 — April 11, 2016

Raquel ""Rachel"" Ofelia Paez, aged 77 years, passed away in her North Highlands home on Monday, April 11, 2016. She was in the presence of her eldest daughter Victoria. Rachel was born on June 6, 1938 in Colton, California. She eldest child of Enrique and Amelia Delgado. Rachel grew up in a loving home with 8 siblings. She was a great big sister that loved to ""harass"" her younger siblings. She would work overtime to keep them in line. Her sister Avelina describes her as being stricter than their parents. She continued to be a loving and caring sister into her adulthood. Rachel went on to marry Jesus Paez on April 30, 1966. Together they had 3 children; Victoria, Alex and Susan. She was a Stepmother to 4 more children; Josephina, Ramona, Esther and Tony. She was a loving mother and a great care giver. She worked at McClellan AFB while raising her children. She loved her job. She often took her youngest daughter Susan and her grandchildren to work with her until she retired in 1998. She enjoyed being involved with the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. She enjoyed doing crafts with the boys and going on camping trips. She made memories to last a lifetime. Her love of doing arts and crafts eventually got her involved with ceramics. She spent a few nights a week in a ceramic class and eventually she taught a few classes. She would give her ceramic pieces away as gifts and often the family would find them all over the house. She is survived by her 3 sisters and 3 brothers, her 3 children and 3 stepchildren, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and many other family members. She will be greatly missed by all. She would light up every time she saw her grandchildren. You could easily see the love between them. Rachel adored everyone in her life and she was grateful for everyone. Memorial Services will be held on April 29, 2016 at 10am at St Lawrence Church, 4325 Don Julio Blvd, North Highlands, CA 95660.
