Peter Joseph Gutierrez

Peter Joseph Gutierrez, born in New York City to Joseph and Rosemary Gutierrez on December 31, 1943, children of Spanish immigrants setting roots in New York City. Talent and intelligence were innate, as Peter graduated from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. He went on to earn a BA in Sociology at City University of New York, and a Masters Degree in Business later in life. He climbed the corporate ladder to executive leadership in business from Zurich America, to Hewlett-Packard, and IBM, finishing his career giving back by teaching graduate and undergraduate business courses. Peter was an accomplished guitarist, formed a band to showcase his musical passion and acumen spanning from jazz to classic rock. He was also a competitive powerlifter, setting records in state and national competitions spanning over 40 years. A man of deep integrity in his professional and personal life, Peter taught those around him the value of a strong work ethic, the importance of perseverance, and that family always comes first. He also had a deep fondness for man’s best friend, especially Rottweilers, and love to adopt the litter runts, which was a testament to his gentle, caring spirit. Peter is survived by his two loving children Lisa and Brian, his former spouse and friend, Janet, as well as colleagues, teammates, and friends. His children and their families will carry on the key traits instilled by their father: leading with integrity, respect, compassion, and love. May he rest in peace.
