Paul Stubbs Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Veteran February 14, 1938 – October 18, 2024

Paul Stubbs, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, surrounded by family. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Paul was known for his adventurous spirit, his deep love of family, and his unwavering faith.

Paul proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, including time spent as a Vietnam veteran. His love for travel began during his military years, when he spent 2 ½ years stationed in Europe, 2 years in the Middle East, and time in Vietnam. After returning to the U.S., Paul met the love of his life, Linda. They married in 1969, and soon after, Paul and Linda moved to Naples, Italy, where they were stationed for 6 years and traveled all over Europe.

Upon returning to the U.S., they were stationed at Vandenberg AFB, where Paul affectionately described his life as “turning pink” with the birth of his daughter, Melinda. His final deployment was to Clark AFB in the Philippines, where they lived for 2 years before Paul retired in California in 1980. After retiring, Paul worked in real estate and became an amazing stay-at-home dad, dedicating his time to his family.

A proud member of the "Greatest Generation," Paul was tough, resilient, and never shied away from hard work. Whether in his military service or personal life, he exemplified the values of perseverance and dedication. His work ethic and commitment were the cornerstones of everything he did.

Paul’s faith was the guiding force in his life. A devout Catholic, he lived with a deep connection to Jesus, attending Mass regularly and embodying his faith in all aspects of his life. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal service organization that reflected his commitment to faith, charity, and community.

Paul embarked on many adventures throughout his life, whether exploring new destinations or sharing a meal drenched in Tabasco sauce (because in Paul's world, if a little was good, a lot was even better!). He loved chili, anything spicy, boxing, dogs, and practical jokes, and he encouraged everyone to call him “Uncle Paul.”

Paul leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Stubbs, and his daughter, Melinda Franzoni, who, along with her husband Lawrence, blessed him with three wonderful grandchildren: Alexander, Emily, and Addison. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment with them.

Paul was the eldest of 12 children. He is survived by his sisters Barbara, Mary, Vera, Judy, and his brother Bobby, along with their spouses and extended family. He was predeceased by his sister Sallie, brother Eddie, father Carl Stubbs, and his parents Vera and Ed McCarty. He is also survived by his in-laws Mary, Wayne, and Chet, and extended family.

Paul’s love for music, dogs, family, and country shaped his life and inspired all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Lawrence Church, 4325 Don Julio Blvd, North Highlands, CA 95660, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:30 AM, with a rosary preceding at 10:00 AM. He will be cremated and laid to rest in a Veteran’s cemetery at a later date.
