Patrick Allen Markert

November 13, 1950 — October 12, 2023

November 1950 - October 2023

Pat was born and spent the first 10 years of his life in Inglewood CA where the family home was part of an apartment complex that his father built, with a heated swimming pool in the middle. The family moved to a cattle ranch on the Klamath River in northern California in 1961, where Pat and his siblings attended a one room school until it closed, a two room elementary school at Horse Creek, followed by Yreka High School for two years. The family relocated to Fair Oaks CA where Pat completed his high school education at Bella Vista in 1969 while also working in the family heating & air conditioning business.

As a young adult Pat continued to work with the family business during the day, but in the evenings he could often be found square dancing and soon moved from beginner to advanced to challenge levels. This is where he made many lifelong friends, especially enjoying the weekend dances and campouts. Of course, this is where he met his wife Glenda.

After the family business disbanded Pat began working at Blue Diamond Growers, where he had a 20 year career. In retirement he regularly volunteered at the Heidrick Ag History Center in Woodland. He loved model trains, cuckoo clocks, chess, country western music, and family.
Pat is survived by his wife Glenda, brother Mike, sisters Sandy, Rocki, & Melinda, and brother-in-law Jeff as well as many nieces and nephews.
