Patricia May Ramirez

January 21, 1941 — June 27, 2020

Patricia May Ramirez January 21, 1941 – June 27, 2020 Patricia “Pat” Ramirez Janke, was born in Los Angeles, CA to Willy Janke and Marion N. Koehler on January 21, 1941 and died peacefully surrounded by family on June 27, 2020, after a very difficult two year battle with Cancer. She grew up in Los Angeles, CA near Culver City and attended St. Augustine Catholic School through the 8th grade. She attended Notre Dame Catholic High School in Los Angeles and graduated in June, 1959. She met her husband Carlos Ramirez in May of 1957 while eating at a Drive In Restaurant in Culver City. They quickly fell in love and married ten days after her High School Graduation. They had four children Ricardo, Ana, Christina and Gina. One week before her passing they celebrated their 61 st Wedding Anniversary. Pat was a woman of many talents and blessed with a joy for life, a great sense of humor, unsurpassed energy and love for her family, friends and animals. She could have been anything she wanted to be and became a talented and knowledgeable Antique Collector, Horseback Rider, Bowler (once being 3 pins short of a perfect game) Stained Glass Artist, Trap Shooter, Golfer, Bead and Stone Necklace maker, Quilter and Purse maker. When the children all reached school age, she decided that she might be ready for a job but, was reluctant because she was concerned about not being home for the children. One of our neighbors who happened to be a School Bus Driver told her the school was looking for some new drivers and her hours would allow her to be home when the children were home, be home all summer and also in the middle of the day to do whatever she needed to do at home. She got the job and immediately volunteered to drive Special Needs Children, for almost 18 years. One of her greatest achievements in life was to teach all of us an appreciation, love and care for animals. When most children grow up with maybe a dog or a cat ours grew up with dogs, cats, turtles, birds, snakes, pigs, goats, cows, horses, raptors, racoons, opossums, deer, rabbits etc. etc. She dedicated ten years caring for injured animals and gained great respect and reputation from Veterinarians, Police, Sheriffs, Park Rangers and people in general for her knowledge and expertise in wildlife rehabilitation. She was beautiful in and out and someone who lived an extraordinary life. In sixtythree years of knowing her, I never heard her speak ill of any person and always reminded us that if you had nothing good to say about a person, you should not say anything at all. Her strength, her values, her love and kindness have set a great example for our families and her memories are imbedded in our hearts and soul for the rest of our lives. Because of the current Pandemic we will not be holding a Service or a Celebration of her Life. In Liew of flowers please make a contribution to your local SPCA.
