Patricia Lee Jacobsen

March 16, 1937 — March 21, 2022

Patricia Lee Jacobsen was an amazing Mom, Grandma aka Gma and friend to all who knew her. She lived a blessed life full of grace and dignity despite her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s later in her life. Pat passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022 at home in Sacramento surrounded by her two daughters. Only 5 days before she had celebrated her 85th birthday with all of her grandchildren, daughters and their spouses by her side. Pat was a third generation Sacramentan and lived in Sacramento her entire life. She went to Robla Elementary School and later graduated from Grant High School in the legendary Class of 1955. Pat kept in touch with her childhood friends throughout her life and was active in the Grant Alumni Association for many years. Pat grew up on a farm and was involved with 4-H for many years, milking cows by morning and a cheerleader and writer on the Grant High School newsletter by day. She was proud that she had a Brown Swiss grand champion cow as part of her 4-H experience. Pat worked for the State and then met her husband Richard “Jake” Jacobsen (passed away 1994). She stayed home with her two daughters Kris and Karen until they were in middle school. She later worked in the private sector with one of her best friends and then went back to work with the State of California’s Food and Ag Department in the Horse Drugging program which regulated horse races. Pat has two daughters Kris (Ben) and Karen (Carol) and three beautiful grandchildren Kellen (Amy), Chandler and Kierney (Will). She enjoyed traveling to England, Scotland and Ireland with Kellen, to France and Italy with Chandler and to Fiji and Australia with Kierney. But some of her most treasured memories were of travel to the family’s “Bay House” in Bodega Bay for 50 years that she and Jake purchased in 1972. The family spent holidays and summers as well as many weekends at the Bay and it is still a cherished family destination. Pat also loved to travel to different islands in Hawaii to visit her sister Rhonda, niece Carrie and her great nieces and nephew in the island. She also loved to travel in her Bigfoot trailer with Bob Peterson after they reconnected at a high school reunion and they also enjoyed gold mining. Pat loved all things family and she was there for every event for her daughters and grandchildren over the years as well as her parents Clint and Rhonda during their lives. She often hosted family gatherings for all the family when everyone was young at the family home located on Amalfi Way in Fair Oaks. She was so loved and while she is missed, she will forever be remembered in our hearts as a truly amazing Mom, Gma and Friend. A small private celebration of Pat’s life will be held. Pat’s ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean off Bodega Bay at a later time. If you are thinking of your good times with Pat, please feel free to do a toast to Pat and her wonderful life with some Fetzer Gewürztraminer and a Neil Diamond song playing! The family would like to say a special thanks to her amazing caregivers Ana, Eleanor, Gio, Thania and Consuelo for all their support and love over the years as well as to Dr. Caron Houston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s name may be made to the Grant Alumni Association.
