Nicole Marie Woodman. 1970-2018 Nicole Woodman: devoted mother, loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, co-worker, friend, child of light, and child of God. Nicole passed away February 13, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Nicole was born and raised in the Sacramento area. Graduating from Rio Americano High School, she went on to attend the University of California at Santa Barbara where she earned her bachelor’s degree and the University of Chicago where she earned her master’s degree. Nicole returned to the Sacramento area where she began a decades’ long career in county and state government—first in Sacramento’s County’s Conservancy Office then in its Probation Office. In 2015, Nicole accepted a position with the State of California’s Board of State and Community Corrections office where she was a Field Representative. She loved her co-workers and was loved in return. Nicole embraced life, had a sparkling sense of humor, and despite the years she spent battling cancer a bubbly personality. She was tenacious in her devotion to her son Joshua, protective of her parents and family, a wonderful person to be around. A deeply spiritual Christian, Nicole was an active member of River’s Edge church and enjoyed and was supported by her church family. Nicole was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Woodman, Jr.; grandparents Gordon Nelson, Mary and Ed Seidlitz; and Lawrence (Sr.) and Mary Woodman. Left to cherish her memory is her son Joshua; her mother Earlene Woodman; brother Michael Woodman, wife Leslie and nephew Logan; aunts Mary Lou Lumsden (husband David) and Mary McCabe; cousins Rachel Jones and Marill Jacobson; and a host of friends, co-workers, and associates. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 23d at the Sierra View Funeral Home, 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael. Following a private internment, there will be a reception in honor of Nicole at the Carmichael Presbyterian Church, 5645 Marconi Ave, Carmichael. In lieu of flowers, Nicole’s family asks that remembrances in her name be sent to the American Cancer Society or River’s Edge Church.
