Mitchell Alexander

1948 — 2025

Roseville

Mitchell Alexander was born on February 20, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Lillian Alexander. He died peacefully in his home with his wife, Heidi on February 26, 2025. He was 77 years old. Mitch grew up in Detroit, and after high school, he worked in various positions in the auto industry. He moved up to Mount Pleasant in the early 1970's where he received his cosmetology license. Later, he moved to Lansing where he owned and operated up to five salons. He then moved to Kalamazoo where he managed a hair salon called New York New York Hair Salon. It was then, 40 years ago, where he met his future wife, Heidi.

Mitch decided to move to Los Angeles with the goal to be the hairstylist to the stars. He convinced Heidi to join him out there and soon they were married. A little over a year later, they welcomed their daughter, Teddi into their family. After living in Los Angeles for six years, the family decided to move back to Michigan to be closer to the grandparents. Mitch opened So Fine Hair Salon where he owned and operated until closing it in 2012.

Mitch was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 22, 1959 and was active in the ministry. He and his family traveled to the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses. He and his wife were assigned to seldom worked territory in Jackson, Michigan where they assisted the local congregation in Jackson on a couple occasions. Mitch loved talking to others about the Bible and would often witness to others while they got their hair cut. In fact, his wife began studying the Bible because of Mitch's conversations with her while he was doing her hair! Mitch's other loves were spending time with family and friends, travelling, playing golf, listening to jazz, and spending time at home barbecuing or relaxing with family and the doggies.

Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian Alexander, sisters Barbara Hoggs and Sylvia Winbush, son Andrew, and great granddaughter Brielle. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Heidi Alexander, brothers Mark Alexander (Cheryl), and Timothy Alexander; daughters Patricia Alexander, Candis Yeldell, Teddi Alexander, and son, Mitchell Alexander Jr.; grandchildren Nicole, Steven, Lawrence Jr., Adrian, Tia, Gabrielle, Caden, and Solara; great grandchildren Layla, Julian and Amari; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mitch will be greatly missed not only by family, but so many friends he met along the way!  Rest in peace.

Memorial services will be this Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7709 Walerga Road, Antelope, CA  95843.

The service will also be available on Zoom. (Meeting ID: 834 0949 1446  passcode 432563)
