December 4, 1952 – April 29, 2024

Michael Dequine, retired Sacramento land surveyor, passed away following courageous battle with cancer at the age of 71. Born and raised in Sacramento, Michael was raised by Raymond and Doris Dequine, along with siblings Mark, Vicki,Patti, and Amy. After high school, Michael was drafted to the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War. He always joked “It was the only lottery I ever won!”.

After an honorable discharge from the Marines, Michael met and married his first wife Jeannie Pfeiffer and had a son, Dustin. Michael attended college to obtain a Land Surveying degree while simultaneously balancing work and family obligations. After

college, he became licensed and started working as a Land Surveyor and quickly proved his value moving up the ranks at various companies. Following his divorce, Michael met his current wife, Shauna, and her sons Zachary and Ryan. He went on to start his own business, Michael Dequine and Associates, working with his best friend, Konrad Stinchfield, and was very successful for over 18 years before he finally decided to retire in December 2022.

Michael was a perpetual optimist. He loved his friends and family deeply and was passionate about fly fishing, gardening, and bonsai. Even in the face of breathing difficulties, he always looked on the bright side and ultimately was thrilled to receive a lung transplant which offered him several more years of life and the ability to enjoy time with loved ones.

After a long engagement, Michael and Shauna married on May 19, 2018, at a beautiful ceremony with many loved ones at their sides. He is survived by his wife Shauna Dequine, his sisters Vicki Helm, Patti Domingos, and two sister-in-law‘s from his previous marriage, Jackie Pfeiffer and Jill Pfeiffer Cartwright and so many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He leaves behind his legacy through his son, two stepsons, and four grandchildren. Dustin Dequine along with wife Sarah, grandson Bennet and granddaughter Christine. Zachary Green along with wife Kayla, and granddaughters Sienna and Bella; and Ryan Green along with his husband Thomas.
