Melba Fiscus, born May 29, 1937 in Managua, Nicaragua passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from metastasized breast cancer. She was predeceased by her son, Dwight Fiscus, and her sister, Sonia. She is survived by her husband, Dave Fiscus; son, Terry Fiscus (Ann Kelly); daughter, Lisa Berges; sister, Yolanda Schleuder; sister Gloria Tellez, and brother Cesar Tellez. Melba learned English in the American School in Managua and later was employed as its school secretary. She married Dave Fiscus in 1964, moved to Sacramento, and became a US citizen. She worked for 20 years in the office at Elk Grove's James McKee Elementary School. After retirement in 1997, Melba volunteered at the Casa Garden Restaurant, the Golden State Museum, and served many years for the St. Vincent De Paul food program. Melba led an active life style and delighted in traveling. She and Dave explored 55 countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. A Rosary will be at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11, Fri., Sept 2. Services at Our Lady of Presentation Parish, 4123 Robertson, Ave. Sacramento. The burial will be at 2 PM at St. Mary's Cemetery.
