Mary Frances Marler, after a six year battle with ovarian cancer passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home in Citrus Heights surrounded by her family. . Most people knew her as Fran or Frannie. She was born in Oklahoma to George C. and Wanda K. Marler on July 4, 1941 and was an only child. She was preceded by her husband of 33 years, Robert H. Hackbarth and is survived by her three children, Cathy L. Mays, Robert H. Hackbarth, Jr. and Susan D. Record. She was a loving grandmother to Christopher Hackbarth, Holly Lane, Patrick Record, Shawn Howell, Kim Howell, Bobby Hackbarth, William Hackbarth and eight great grandchildren and her puppy Bella. She worked for Sacramento County for 16 years and retired from Sacramento County Sheriff Department in 2000. She loved to golf with her daughter Susan and her son Robert. She never missed a school play or piano recital by her great-granddaughter Greenlea. She also had a passion for playing the piano, painting and gardening. She was a bright light in this world and cherished her friends. People were drawn to her caring and loving nature. Her life was lived with dignity, trust and attention to detail that is all too uncommon in the world today. She will be missed by all who were touched by her presence. Her spirit will always be alive in those that live by the qualities she embodied.
