Hagedorn, Mary Ellen Some people touch our lives only briefly, while others leave a lasting impression and are never forgotten. It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ellen Hagedorn announces her passing on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the age of 83 years. Mary Ellen will be lovingly remembered by Bill, her husband of 58 years, and her children, Mary Anne (Steve), Bill (Sue) and Bob (Karen). Mary Ellen will also be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren: Matthew, AnnMarie, Michael (Mary Anne), Will and Brittany (Bill) and Ashley (Bob). Mary Ellen was born February 28, 1932 to James and Adeline Doyle. The youngest of 8 children, Mary Ellen and her siblings grew up in Neola, Iowa on their family farm. After college and teaching underprivileged children in Mississippi, Mary Ellen's adventurous spirit led her to California where she met and fell in love with William (Bill) Hagedorn. Bill and Mary married February 9, 1957. Their family grew in love and size with the birth of their first child, Mary Anne, followed by the births of their sons Bill and Bob. As the heart of her family, Mary always put other's needs and wants before her own. Her gorgeous smile could light up a room and her infectious laugh and delicate hands used to comfort those she loved so dearly will forever be remembered by her family and friends. Frequently described as a 'gentle soul' by those who knew her, Mary Ellen will surely leave her legacy of kindness, compassion, faith, and love here on earth to those who already miss her more than words could possibly express. Mary Ellen lived her life according to her strong belief and faith in God. Though now in the loving arms of God, she will still walk beside us every day forever loved and held dear in our hearts. A Prayer Service and Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael, CA 95608. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Mary Ellen on Friday, November 13,2015 at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Carmichael, CA with F. Eduino presiding.
