Mary Therese Cotterman

Mary Therese Cotterman, devoted wife, beloved mother, and
adored Nana died at home peacefully on January 25, 2024
surrounded by family at the age of 92. She was the dedicated
Director of Inverness Day School in Carmichael for years, and
nurtured the growth of countless children, and other educators.
Her home has always been a warm and welcoming place filled
with love for so many. She lived a very blessed and full life full of
hope, passion and purpose. She was always a friend to those in
need, and protector of the vulnerable. Mary was a spiritual woman
who put others before herself; God, church and endless prayers
for others. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Grace
Maloney, first husband George Schultz, second husband James
Cotterman, and brother Father Charles Maloney.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of 7 children, Bob Schultz (Mary),
Terry Bowers, Tom Schultz, Paul Schultz, Maura Abatemarco
(Tom), Mary Celine Brigham, Rebecca Cotterman (Rich); 16
grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, each a testament to
the love and strength she instilled in our family. She also leaves
her sister, Paula O’Neil, and dear friend Patricia Scott.

Always quick with a smile, words of encouragement, and a good
story, her wit and compassion for others will be missed by all
those who had the fortune to know her.
