Born Mary Helen Gaul in San Francisco, CA on May 26, 1924, Mary died peacefully at her home on March 11, 2018 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald F. Brady, and her sons Barry and Kevin Brady. She is survived by her loving sister and adopted daughter Diana Gaul Cull, and son-in-law Chris Kusseling, of Alexandria, VA. She also leaves behind many dear cousins, friends and neighbors. Mary was a graduate of St. Rose Academy in San Francisco where she was captain of the tennis team. She attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing and worked as a medical assistant at various times of her life in both San Francisco and Sacramento. Mary and Don (who worked for the California State Board of Equalization) moved to Sacramento in 1969?. Mary was a dedicated volunteer at Kaiser Hospital (Morse Ave.) for over 20 years and also served as a hospice volunteer. Mary had a lifelong passion for tennis, playing well into her eighties, and was a decades-long member of the “Ashton Court Girls”. With her husband she enjoyed beach-combing, dancing, and travel. She loved reading mysteries, especially the Stephanie Plum series, and all things chocolate. Mary will be remembered for her strength in the face of adversity, her generous and caring spirit, and her keen sense of humor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 11 am at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 7101 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights CA 95841, followed by internment. The Family is grateful to the staff of Craig Cares and Kaiser Hospice who cared for Mary and assisted in her peaceful transition.
