Marie Elizabeth aka Mary Elizabeth Cusack

“The Heart Lady”

The moment Marie was born on February 10, 1946, she was born with love to give.  Surrounded by loving family and friends, she always returned that love amplified.  She was born as a feather on the breath of God.

She graduated high school early at the ripe age of 16.  Immediately, she went into the work world to later rediscover her thirst for knowledge, returning to school at the age of 27.  She graduated from UC Davis in 1976 with honors for her degree in mental health.  She then moved onto California State University Sacramento to complete her graduate degree.  She served her community for 36 years as a Marriage Family & Child Counselor, loving and embracing each one of her clients.

Her love for life did not stop there.  She was involved in her community through her love of movement.  You could find her daily at the local gym swimming or on weekends on the dance floor.  One could say she danced her way through life.  Always finding the flow of joy.

Anyone who knows Marie well, knows her ongoing love affair with hearts.  She carried small glass hearts no matter where she went.  In her vehicles, in her purse, always in hand.  No matter the person and their story that crossed her path, she always made sure to give them a heart and would tell them: “The heart you hold in your hand is you.  Your time on Earth.  Until you are 99 years old and in your rocking chair, you are perfectly imperfect.  You don’t have to have your s*** together.  YOU DO HAVE PERFECT LOVE.”

Marie left this world on May 12, 2023.  Even though her body has left this earth, her soul and spirit will continue to live on.  She is survived by her one and only, Lindsy Marie.  Her brother Tommy, as well as her nieces and nephew, Amy, Stacy, and Johnny.

A celebration of life will take place but a little down the road.
