Marian Lucille Warnock

September 5, 1930 — November 25, 2024

Roseville

Marian Lucille Schmeeckle was born the middle child, between Roger and Helen, in Cozad, Nebraska to Jacob Daniel and Lola Fern Schmeeckle. The family moved to Loveland, Colorado where she was raised. It was there at age 14 that she lost her mother.

Loveland was also where she met her Jim. They were high school sweethearts. They were married in Jim’s parent’s prize-winning rose garden on June 12, 1949. They were just shy of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary when Jim went to be with the Lord in 2014.

Together Marian and Jim attended Bob Jones University, living in a small trailer on campus. Marian and Jim dedicated their lives to serving Christ and became pastor and pastor’s wife of churches in Colorado, San Jose and Salinas.

Marian and Jim were blessed with 5 children. Steve, Tim, Paul (Becki), Liz Stroder (David) and Priscilla Nelms (Jeff). She is loved by her 14 grandchildren, (her 29th great-grandchild is due in December), and numerous nieces and nephews. Her dear sister, Helen McClure, resides in Arvada, Colorado.

Marian had a passion for music, the church, and people in general. She taught piano for decades and instilled her love of music into hundreds of students. Her specialty was playing the organ at the First Presbyterian Church (now Compass Church) all the way into her 90’s. She loved to sing, talk, cook, read her Bible, and make Kombucha.

Leaving her home in Salinas at age 92, she moved to Roseville to be near family. The last 2 years she enjoyed the amenities of Oakmont Senior Living and the tender care of Compassion Senior Care.

Marian passed away peacefully Monday November 25, 2024 surrounded by her daughters and the prayers of her loving family.

Her Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at Compass Church of Salinas, 830 Padre Drive, on Saturday, February 8 at 11 AM. This date is special because Jim’s memorial was on February 8, 2014.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International.
