Lynn James Johnson

Lynn James Johnson passed away peacefully in his home on October 28, 2024. He was born on August 30, 1953 in Pasadena, California. He played football at Azusa High School where he graduated in 1972. He served in the United States Navy from 1972 – 1975 and was based in Southern California and the Naval Air Facility Atsugi in Japan. He was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Scotland and Ireland from 1977 – 1979. In June 1980 he married Jeanette Haag in Oakland, California. He received his associate degree from American River College.

Lynn was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and was in attendance at Dodger Stadium when Sandy Koufax pitched a perfect game in 1965. After his move to Sacramento he continued to be a dedicated follower even though his children were determined to support the San Francisco Giants.

He was actively involved in the scouting program with his 3 sons and often participated in merit badge clinics.

He worked at the State Capital Museum and Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento. He was also a long haul trucker for a time and was able to travel to many US States. He spent many Christmas seasons as one of Santa’s helpers handing out Coca-Cola products and candy canes

He is survived by his wife Jeanette, his children Paul (Shelly), Jacob (Sarah), Kevin, Natalie, Heather Roberson (Cole), and Tiffany, his grandchildren, Jill, Jacob, Matthew, Lawrence (Tank), Leoma, Annie, Parley, Christian, Henry, Sally, Charlotte, and Nolan, and his brother Lawrence (Larry) (Linda Caruso). He is preceded in death by his parents Paul Edward, and Ruth Erdman Johnson, and his sister Patricia Wilson. He is also survived by many in-laws, and nieces and nephews.

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2 at 2 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3001 Wisseman Drive in Sacramento. A viewing will be held at 1 pm
