Lola Nasr

July 15, 1935 — October 17, 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Lola Khoury Nasr. Lola was born July 15th, 1935, in Taybeh Palestine and passed peacefully October 17th, 2023 in Citrus Heights, California, with her daughters by her side. Her greatest joy was being with her family and making those around her laugh. Both Lola and John Elias Nasr came to the US separately, escaping a brutal occupation. They each had hopes of a better life. Lola had loved John her whole life and when they reconnected again in Detroit there wasn’t any denial that John felt the same way. They married in 1958 and together they created a beautiful family. They lived in Detroit, MI, Beirut, Lebanon, San Francisco, CA. In 1976 they settled in Citrus Heights, CA, and started a business as restaurant owners of Julianna’s Kitchen in Sacramento. Lola and John spent many hours building a successful Middle Eastern eatery and eventually with the help of their children they expanded to a second location. Lola and John would travel the world for months at a time. The two of them created the most beautiful memories and would regale their grandkids with the stories of their travels. After losing John, Lola ensured his love of travel carried on with their children and grandchildren for many years. The experiences and memories made with her will be cherished forever. Lola had great pride in her Palestinian heritage, anytime it was safe, and she was able to, she would visit Palestine. She longed to visit one more time but unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. Lola was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life. Lola is survived by her children Lila Schmall, Victoria McCaslin, Sami Nasr, and Susan Tams. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and her seven great-grandchildren. It provides great relief that she is now
reunited with her dearest love after 32 years apart, but she will be missed dearly by all who loved her. She will remain in our hearts and her memories will live on through those who had the joy of knowing her.
