Lisa Kay Jager

February 26, 1961 — June 30, 2022

Lisa Kay Jager, age 61, of Sacramento passed away in her home on the morning of June 30th, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Lisa was born on February 26th, 1961, in Devils Lake, ND. She was the second born daughter of Edward and Marcia Jager. She graduated high school from Devils Lake High School in 1979. She then went on to further her education at the University of North Dakota where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science. While at UND she was a staff writer for the Dakota Student and joined the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. There she met a ton of lifelong friends who she kept in touch with through the years. After college she lived in many different areas around the United States. She was a talented writer and that led her to many places. She loved to travel so it was no surprise she enjoyed moving around a lot. One of the first places she moved was to Denver, CO. She was there for nine years and wrote for many companies. Even after she moved away, Denver had a special place in her heart. This was evident by her pro sports teams of choice. If there happened to be a big game on, she was rooting for the Avalanche, the Rockies, or the Broncos. Also, was a huge fan of her almatar, the Fighting Sioux (Fighting Hawks). Other places she lived were Washington, D.C, Oconomowoc, WI, and then back to Devils Lake, until finally she found her spot in Sacramento, CA. In California she worked for California Food Producers where she was the director of marketing and communications for seven years. When she wasn’t working, one of her favorite places you could find her was sitting outside with her feet in the pool or hanging out with her neighbors. Family and friends were very important to her. She was close with all of her siblings and especially with her sister Julie. They went on trips together almost every year. Lisa never ended up having children of her own but she loved visiting her nieces and nephews/great nieces and nephews. She loved watching their sporting events and keeping up with their lives even from afar. When you went out to California to visit her, she made sure to show you the best spots in Sacramento and along the Bay Area. Lisa always had a story from her childhood or from the different places she lived. She was always ready to tell them, and you never heard the same story twice. Lisa was an avid traveler and got to go on many cool trips such as the Grand Canyon, Myrtle Beach, Australia, Egypt, and many more. If you weren’t lucky enough to hear them first hand, Lisa also wrote a blog. There she had the creative freedom to write. She often told stories and gave recaps of what was going on in her life. She is survived by: Parent: Edward Jager (father) Siblings: Julie Diemert, Dan (Laura) Jager, and Mike (Sheila) Jager Nieces/Nephews: Mallory (Alex) Walter, Jessie (Tucker) Zimmer, Madison Diemert, Jenna Jager, Zephryn Jager, and Noah Jager Great Nieces/Nephews: Mya Walter, Porter Walter, and Pierce Walter And many many friends. She is preceded in death by: Her mother Marcia Jager, her nephew Levi Jager, her brother-in-law Jay Diemert and both sets of maternal and paternal grandparents Virginia and Walter Burgstahler & Sebastian and Christine Jager. A Memorial Service for Lisa will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 9 a.m. in Sacramento, CA, at the California Food Producers, 2485 Natomas Park Drive, in the courtyard. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 10, 2022, in Devils Lake, ND. The details are being planned by the family at this time.
