Leon Lampkin, age was documented as 93 years, though it is believed his age was closer to 103 due to discrepancies in documentations for men of color in the early 1900's. He lived a full life and passed on Mother's Day, May 14, 2017. His daughters were with him when he took his last breath. He was an unselfish man, hardworking, devoted and passionate about life. Always trying to live each day to the fullest, kept a smile on his face, showed respect, kindness and love to all human-kind! He provided for others and protected all life. All who knew him were blessed through his friendship, caring and giving heart. Playing cards, monopoly and other board games was a hobby he enjoyed. He loved to fish and make sweet potato pies. A die hard recycler before recycling was even in style. No one would dare throw away a can in front of him or they'd hear it... "that's a nickel you just threw away." He was full of knowledge and always stressed the importance of getting an education to his children, as formal education was not available to him as a child. He is survived by his wife, 7 children, 21 grand-children, and 5 great grand-children along with a multitude of friends/relatives of the Lampkin family that also called him Dad. After a hard battle with Alzheimer's Disease we are happy that he is at peace. We love you Dad and thank you for encouraging us throughout the years. We will have that party you asked us to have.
