Kyong Sun Tipton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 5, 1946 in South Korea, Kyong Sun lived a vibrant life full of love, laughter, and adventure, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Kyong Sun was the devoted wife of Ricardo G. Tipton, with whom she shared over 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised five children: Cris, Ricardo Jr. , Arnette, Leilani and Brandon. She adored her family, especially her eight grandchildren—Mariah, Darius, Nathaniel, Zion, Blake, Trey, Khalil, and CJ—whom she lovingly spoiled at every opportunity.
Known for her warmth and culinary talents, Kyong Sun brought family and friends together with her famous kimchi and japchae, which were staples at every gathering. Standing just 5 feet tall, she had a presence far larger than her stature, with a voice and spirit that could fill any room.
Kyong Sun embraced life with spunk and a fearless sense of adventure. She was never afraid to try something new, whether it was traveling to a new destination, dining at a unique restaurant, or testing her luck at the casino. She enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, and was a regular at bingo halls, where her competitive spirit shone brightly.
Despite her love for glamour—always stepping out with her hair, nails, and signature jewelry impeccably done—her greatest joys came from her family. Her love, generosity, and unwavering support touched everyone close to her.
Kyong Sun is survived by her husband, Ricardo, her children, her grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. Her strength, kindness, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A funeral mass to honor Kyong Sun's life will be held on January 29, 2025 at St. John Vianney Church. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her incredible legacy and share memories of a life well-lived.
She was a little woman with a big presence, and her love will forever be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
