Kenneth Elroy Mumma

November 3, 1942 — February 11, 2019

On February 11th, 2019, late in the evening, Kenneth Elroy Mumma, was called to serve the Grand Architect of the Universe in the Celestial Lodge. He was born on November 3rd, 1942 to Albert Elroy Mumma (Gary,Indiana) and Phoebe Merrick Mumma (Nottingham, England) in Sacramento, California. His early life was one that most people only dream of living. His father served as an Aircraft Inspector for the Army AirCorps which then became the United States Air Force and his mother packed parachutes for GI’s during WWII. As a youth he traveled the world including living in Morocco, North Africa. He would tell us stories of their housekeeper Fatima and how on the return trip his fathers brand new Chevy Impala being dropped on the Dock. High School was a challenge for him, mostly because it bored him so much that he would end up getting in trouble until he was asked to leave before graduating. He joined the Marine Corps and served just prior to the official start of the Vietnam War. He was injured in the line of duty and Honorably Discharged. He returned to the States and worked as a busboy for Hearts Restaurant, owed a Toy Store with his brother and then finally for Sacramento Filter Service. He later purchased the business from the owner. He met his wife, Charlene Diana (Johnston) Mumma (Deceased) while working for Hearts Restaurant. They eventually bought a home from the Church they belonged to (1st Baptist Church of Carmichael) and started to raise a family. He had three children. The oldest, Christopher John Mumma, of Fair Oaks, CA, Deborah Jayne Mumma of Mendocino CA and Michelle Jennifer Mumma (Deceased). Kenneth had 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren (Brigitte VeNard (Mumma) (Erick VeNard), Matthew Mumma, Nathaniel, Lakota, Mason Mumma, Lucas, Hunter, Jackson, Nikolaus and Gabriella Henningsen and Great Grandchildren Benjamin, Michael and Victoria VeNard. He was a philanthropist. Kenneth was a Master Mason (Oak Plains Lodge #789) a 32* Mason in the Scottish Rite donating to the Aphasia program, and a Shriner (Ben Ali) where he made children laugh and smile as the Shriner Clown Spoke and donating money to support the Shriners Hospital for Children. He also served his fellow brothers as president of the Clown Unit. He was also an Elks member (Carmichael Elks) He was a avid fisherman including owning his own commercial salmon fishing boat and scuba and skin diver until developing some serious heart problems. He will be missed by all those he left behind.
