Kathleen Rose Hess

Kathleen Rose Hess lost her 19year battle with cancer on December 3, 2015 at her home in North Highlands, CA. Kathleen was born in Ely, NV to Charles and Rose Chester. Her family moved to Elko, NV while she was in elementary school, she graduated from Elko High School in 1966, and attended business school in Salt Lake City, UT. In February of 1968, she married Bradley Steven Hess also of Elko. During their marriage they lived in Wendover, Carson City, and North Highlands. Kathie is survived by her father Charles Chester of Elko, her husband Bradley, her brother Chris Johnson, his wife Lorrie, and their children Chase, Makayla, and Pierce. Also surviving are her sons Bret and his children Caitlyn, Kristen, Andrew, and granddaughterinlaw Melanie; her son Charles, his wife Shelly and their children Brandon and Emily. Kathie loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and most recently New Zealand. Kathie made friends everywhere she went, including an occasional stranger in line at the store. She had a positive effect on the people she knew and truly will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. The railroad guys, as an example, wanted folks to know that she could hang with the best. They will hoist one in remembrance of her always having a good time, a scotch on the rocks, and toast that she was a good rail. A rosary will be held at Burns Funeral Home in Elko Nevada beginning at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Funeral services will be held at Saint Josephs Catholic Church in Elko Nevada with mass beginning at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.
