Joyce Pratt Weil

Joyce Pratt Weil, passed away on June 24, 2024. Born February 12, 1935 in Reno, NV, Joyce pursued her passion for education, earning a BA in Social Studies and Psychology, as well as a Master's in Special Education, both from Sacramento State University.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kara Lucas Pratt and Kenneth Pratt, and her sisters, Kara Pratt Brewer and SueDee Pratt McClelland. Joyce is survived by her children and their spouses: John Weil (Coleen), Elaine Dorozynski (Mike), Helen Gallagher (Glenn), Mark Weil (Teresa), Anne Stephan (Bill), and Sara Cobb (Dennis), as well as ten grandchildren, six step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, JoAnn and John and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Joyce’s career was marked by her dedication to teaching. She spent many years as a Special Education instructor to both children and adults. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as she also tutored individuals of all ages.

In addition to her professional achievements, Joyce was involved in her community. She volunteered at Wellspring Women's Center and was an Associate of the Sisters of Social Service for 30 years, demonstrating her commitment to helping others. She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

A Mass in Joyce’s honor will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carmichael on July 19th at 8:30 AM. She will be remembered for her commitment to education, service and faith.

There will be a graveside service for family members in the fall.
