John Vincent Rodrigues

July 7, 1962 — April 18, 2019

John Vincent Rodrigues born 7/7/1962 in Oakland,CA. he passed on April 18, 2019 at 56 years old.His wife Johanna met him on a blind date February 21, 1986. John tells Johanna that evening that she will be his wife forever, and she laughs, but he grew to be the most loving person she had ever met very quickly. He proved to be extraordinary special. They were married June 30th, 1986. He told her about the truth, because she had a lot of questions about God and didn't want to raise children with out teaching them. Even though Johanna was raised Catholic she felt unable to show their children where to find answers regarding life and who God & Jesus are. John suggested to study with the Witnesses and she would found all her answers. Johanna received a knock on her door a few days later by 2 women who were Jehovah's Witness and a study began. All Johanna's questions were answered by the scriptures in the bible. John was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witness at the age of 8 years old in 1970. Johanna was baptized December 10th, 1988. John loved to help people especially those who were destitute. He worked at Loaves and Fishes and the Salvation Army because of the compassion he had for others. We have 2 daughters Julianna and Jennifer and a precious grand daughter Jayla. John loved his daughters so much that he tried to always protect them and they could count on him. John also loved our nephew Manuel very much. He loved him as his own son. Manuel was even able to live with us at times and they became very close. I remember they laughed a lot and loved to do guy stuff. My niece Jessica and Manuel were very close to me as children and that made it more special for John to see them as his beloved children as well. He is survived by his sisters, Bridgette and Julie and a brother Steve. His Pioneer mother Rochelle and his father Randy who is an Elder at their local congregation. John made sure he spoke to them often. John was a true gentleman that opened doors for people, loved to help the older ones, and loved to be of service even at the spur of the moment. One of his favorite memories was a rainy day, Sunday morning at the Kingdom Hall he saw Jonathan Warner with an umbrella rushing to cover families who were struggling getting into the hall without cover. John immediately grabbed an umbrella and began to do what Jonathan was doing. It was amazing how many of our friends needed that help that day. He and Jonathan spent a good 20-30 mins. out in the rain to make sure everyone was taken care of. These types of opportunities made him truly happy. He wished he could do more, but with his solid faith he knows he will be back on the earth to make it a paradise and to do all he wished that he couldn't do before his death and Jehovah will remember him when it is time to resurrect those in his memory and Jesus gave us the example that power has already been proven when Jesus was on earth. We as his spiritual brothers and sisters, look forward to seeing him again soon and so many others we have lost in death.
