John Henry Menefee, Jr, 88 years old, a proud retired Air Force veteran, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1936, in Marietta, GA and was baptized at Pine Street Baptist Church in Marietta, GA, remaining a lifetime member of the church.
John graduated from Lemon Street High School in Marietta, GA in 1955, and was a star running back on the high school football team. He also spent some time in college and enlisted in the U.S.A.F. His 22-year Air Force career took him around the world, including some time in Misawa, Japan where he met his loving wife, Tsuyoshi Menefee. He retired as a Chief Clerk II in the Air Force and then went on to work for the County of Sacramento where he worked as an Administrative Specialist for over 20 years.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Tsuyoshi Menefee of Sacramento, CA; parents, Ardena & John Menefee, Sr. of Marietta, GA, brother, Clarence “Jackie” Menefee of Marietta, GA, and grandson, Terrance T. Hutchins of Colorado Springs, CO.
During his retirement, John enjoyed going to the gym, volunteering at the VFW Post 10125, attending Grace Missionary Baptist Church, singing in the choir, and spending time with his family. He was known for his infectious sense of humor, generosity, and his unwavering support for his loved ones. His generous spirit and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his three beloved children, Timothy Hutchins (Sheila) of Colorado Springs, CO, Christina Menefee of Rancho Cordova, CA, and Jacqueline Menefee of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Timothy R. Hutchins (Janey) of Dallas, TX, Kyle A, Tillman (Heidi) of Colorado Springs, CO, Isiah John Morgera (Orsolya) of Douglasville, GA, and Jovahn DeAndre Simmons of Rancho Cordova, CA, who will all carry forward his legacy of integrity, kindness, and compassion.
