Joe Herbert Wilcox

Joe Herbert Wilcox of Carmichael CA, formerly of Auburn, CA died on July 24, 2021 at The Care Center of Eskaton Village Carmichael after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years, Margarita Wilcox and newborn granddaughter Samantha. He leaves behind a family of which he was most proud. Maria & Rick Wharton, Andy Wharton, Kate Wharton, and Emily & Dalton Clemons parents of Sophia, Joshua, & Fiona; Frances & Greg Ledenbach, Chris & Sarah Ledenbach, Brandi & Wayne Barbee parents of Alex & Abi, and Stephen & Kat Ledenbach; Dolores & Mark McLaughlin, Jillian & Lance Middleton parents of Jude, Lindsay & Sam Franusic, and Scott McLaughlin; Louis & Vicki Wilcox, Jeffrey Wilcox and Matthew Wilcox; Mike & Teresa Wilcox, Nick Wilcox, and Zack Wilcox; and his dear friend Christel Cranston. Joe spent his career working for the phone company, retiring from AT&T when he and Margarita moved to Auburn. Joe’s retirement years were spent making memories with his family and traveling with Margarita. He forged a strong relationship with the Mercy community at the Mercy Center in Auburn participating in various retreats and the Pathways program. Joe loved to share his growing faith with family and friends. Many of Margarita’s quilts, created with Joe’s enthusiastic support, grace the retreat center’s walls and beds. Joe’s funeral mass will be attended by family only due to COVID-19.
