Jimmie Weston Tanton

Jimmie Weston Tanton Aug. 14, 1941 – Sep. 2, 2022.

Jimmie Tanton was born in Napa, CA August 14, 1941 and passed away September 2, 2022 in
his home in Carmichael, CA after four year fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife Olga,
son Weston, stepdaughter Jamie, and four brothers: Tom, Charlie, and Tim of Boise ID, and
John of Phoenix AZ.
Jimmie loved baseball, and played for Napa City college. He went to San Jose to attend San Jose
State University.
Jimmie was drafted to Vietnam at the time of war. When he came back, he continued his
education at San Francisco State University, where he received his MA in English.
Most of his life Jimmie worked in the insurance industry. When his insurance company
(Mercury Insurance Group) moved from San Jose to Sacramento, his family relocated to
Carmichael.
Jimmie loved hiking in the Yosemite high country. His best times he spent in the Sierra Nevada.
When his wife looked through the list of funeral homes in Carmichael the name Sierra View
was the easy choice. Jimmie took many long trips into the backcountry and always enjoyed the
peace of the wilderness.
Jimmie’s wish was to be cremated. We will celebrate his life on October 1, 2022 at his home.
