Janis "JJ" Houser

Janis Irene Houser affectionately known as JJ and Nana, was born to the union of John Houser Jr and Sarah Louis Crawford on March 25, 1961 in Mississippi. She is the youngest of four children. She attended Bates Elementary School, St. Bridget Catholic School, St. Alphonsus Rock Middle School, and Beaumont High School all located in St. Louis, Missouri where she grew up.

Growing up Janis loved going to the movies, the St. Louis zoo, and for many July fourth holidays she enjoyed the SS Admiral boat which floated up and down the Mississippi River.

Janis gave birth to a daughter, Rachel M. Houser in 1978, and a son Rudy R. Jones in 1983 ( deceased). At the age of 24 she moved her family to Sacramento, CA. Later JJ resided in Rancho Cordova, CA for the remainder of her life.

JJ had a career in hospitality. Hobbies for JJ included watching mystery movies, Christmas movies anytime of the year (TV anything), listening to music, local travels, nails/pedicures, and cooking. Later in her years making candles and gardening brought her pleasure.

Nana loved her granddaughters. She had much joy, happiness spending time with them, watching them grow up and taking part in their care. She considered many others her grandchildren.

JJ was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and for the later parts of her life this was her reality. She had open heart surgery a few years after. JJ continued to fight for her health til her last day.

Janis is survived by her daughter Rachel Houser, her granddaughters Sarah-Irene Njuki and RaeLynn Panasiti-Jones, and her cat Blue. In addition, her sister Cheryl Houser and family, her brother Carl Houser and family. Both families includes nephews and nieces.

Family meant a lot to JJ. Over the years many became family and mourn her death. To mention a few, The Panasitis, The Williams, The Ellansons. Janis (JJ) is mourned by many friends from Missouri and California.
