Jane Melanson (Donnelly) passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the age of 92. She was born on July 22, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota to A.J. and Gladys Donnelly. She attended Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, CA, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1951. She was involved in very early cancer research while attending college. Jane was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 52 years Damian Melanson. After they retired, Jane and Damian enjoyed good health, travel, golf and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They were members of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church for over 50 years and frequent volunteers at Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento. Jane was also preceded in death by her son Timothy of West Sacramento. Jane is survived by her sister Mary Walsh (Tom) of St. Paul, Minnesota; loving mother of Mike Melanson (Maria) of New Braunfels, TX, Pat Melanson (Linda) of Sacramento, Tom Melanson (Sheri) of Keno, Oregon, Kathie Penney (Guy) of Carmichael and Susan Plese (Randy) of San Diego, CA; cherished grandmother of Vicki Williams, Meagan, Conor, Dylan and Michaela Melanson; Donald, Steven, Daniel and Kelly Melanson; Merrill Rhynsburger; Bryan and Jenna Melanson; Grant and Morgan Penney; great-grandmother of Devin and Alexis Melanson, Austin Ordeshook, Sage Melanson, Fields, Charlie and William Rhynsburger, Juliana Melanson and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Loaves and Fishes. Information regarding a memorial service will be announced in the New Year.
