James (Jim) Howard Hallett was born in Sacramento on Valentine’s Day 1952. He passed away on February 20, 2018 at the age of 66 at Kaiser Hospital Roseville. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy (Quimby), their son Steve, daughter-in-law LeeAnna, granddaughter, Annabelle, brother Ernie and wife Verna, mother-in-law Lela Quimby, many brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. James attended Del Paso and Harmon Johnson Elementary Schools, Las Palmas Jr High, Norte Del Rio High and Sacramento City College. He worked 37 years for the State of California in various classifications and departments. He retired in 2008 after 16 years in the information technology field. He said retirement was the best job he ever had. James enjoyed bowling, metal detecting and fishing. He also loved to attend various sporting events, especially when his friends (young and old) were playing. He participated in competition metal detecting hunts in 10 states. He and Kathy enjoyed several trips with close friends and family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
