James Clifford Caldwell was born on Nov 27, 1937 in Dalhart in the Texas Panhandle. His parents, Loyse and Juanita Caldwell, owned a drive-In restaurant where Jim worked in his youth. He often sited amusing stories pertaining to his time spent there including selling watermelons in the summer and working the amusement park section of the place. Jims parents and his sister LaJean, have since passed. In his first marriage he had a daughter Debbie and a second marriage, a daughter Christine. Throughout his life, James would spend most of his working time in sales, beginning with working for his father in the start up of computers, then Pharmaceuticals, after relocating to Dallas. He also served 5 years in Army, some overseas, with honorable discharge. He then moved to the greater Los Angeles area where he met Annette and served as the West coast representative for an Art supply company. Later selling auto insurance, and then owning a auto insurance brokerage firm. After the Northridge earthquake, Jim decided it was time to leave LA for Las Vegas. After a year in Vegas.. Jim, along with prompting and help from Victoria, his step daughter, made the decision to move up to the Sacramento area with Annette, where he would spend the last 25 years of his life. Jim had a gruff Texan attitude with a heart of gold and a twinkle in his eye that made him a very special person to the people around him.
