“If Papa Can’t Fix It No One Can”
Howard Stanley Pilon, born on September 21, 1946, and passed away on March 15, 2025, was a dedicated husband to his wife of 58 years, Barbara, a loving father, and a skilled Papa. He could fix just about anything and was fondly known for his “MacGyver” ingenuity.
He served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic and worked for over 40 years in the automotive industry, with a deep passion for cars. He especially enjoyed racing his 1974 Chevrolet Vega, affectionately known as "The Other Woman," watching NASCAR with Barbara, and restoring vintage cars. Howard was well-respected, particularly within the Corvair Club community. He was a true “classic” just like the cars he adored. As Barbara would say, Howard had "oil" in his veins not blood.
Dad,
I will always cherish your unwavering commitment to our family. I'll never forget how, for over 10 years, you drove from Orangevale to Vallejo—sometimes 90 minutes each way—every day without ever complaining. You always had an answer for everything and were my "hulk"—I knew you would do anything for me. I did my best to pay it forward to you. You deserved so much more peace in the end, but I hope you're looking down from heaven, knowing I was a "warrior" for you and loved you with all my heart. -Michelle
