Howard “Howdy” Eugene Allen died peacefully surrounded by family at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael Ca after a lengthy illness. He was born February 26,1944 in Burbank, California. Howard was raised as a loving son by his Grandparents Lucy and Jack Allen. After moving to Campbell California, Howard attended Campbell High School where he played on numerous and diverse sports teams, however he was most passionate about baseball. He graduated in 1962. On Christmas Eve 1966 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1967-1969. Howard’s devotion to the game of baseball began with Little League and continued through high school and into adulthood, playing fast pitch softball for many years in several local leagues. He was a tried and true fan of The Dodgers from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Rodney. He is survived by his wife of forty six years, Linda Gibbons Allen, and three loving daughters, Cindy (John), Michele (Nick), and Traci (Cory), nine grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday February 25, 2023 at 11:00am at Sierra View Chapel, 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd in Carmichael. A celebration of life will follow at the home of Nick and Michele Witry, 961 Coronado Blvd, Sacramento, CA.
