Henry M. Look Henry "Moon Hung" Look, ""Hank"", passed away peacefully on November 29, 2016 at the age of 89 in Sacramento, California. Born in Sacramento, California on June 4, 1927 to his father Look Yau and mother Wong Wei Lun, Henry was the fifth of seven children. He loved sportsa€""basketball, track, and soccer, was named ""All City Athlete"" in San Francisco. Drafted in 1945, Henry served in the United States Marine Corps (Semper Fi!) for three years. In addition to being a strong athlete, Henry was good at artwork and physics, which led him to study architecture at San Francisco City College and at the University of California at Berkeley (Go Bears!) where he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1954. He would pass the state licensing exam in 1958 and have a successful professional career as an architect. Among his best known achievements was designing twenty six of the original Benihana of Tokyo restaurants in the United States. In 1968 Henry renewed his childhood interest in the martial arts and started down another road on his journey, learning from many of the great masters. An intense student of martial arts and philosophies, Henry became a respected Grandmaster and teacher for many students around the world, passing along his knowledge and experience to future generations. Just a few of his martial arts achievements: 1996 established Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi Association; 2003 formed I-Chuan Association of the United States; and 2004 named Inside Kung Fu Magazine ""Man of the Year."" Henry was much loved and will be remembered by his many nephews, nieces, family members, loyal students and friends. We're grateful for his contributions to each of our lives. Henry is survived by his children Douglas Look (Anh), Gregory Look (Lori), Alisa Look-Yannello (Paul), Perry Seto (Chieko), Deborah Arnold (Clayeo); grandchildren Evan Look, Isabel Look, Eric Look, Sierra Lemon; sisters Florence Jew, Ruby Heng; brother George Look (Yuki); and former spouse Louise Gee Look. Henry was predeceased by his parents and sisters Lucy, Ella, Jane, and by his wife Betty Wong Seto. Services to be held privately. The family has asked that charitable donations be made to the I-Chuan Association of the United States, Attention- Janet Peake, 416 Broad Street, Nevada City, CA 95959; the ALS Association- Sacramento Chapter, 2717 Cottage Way Ste. 17, Sacramento, CA 95825; or other organizations of your choice.
