Henry Hans Halkyer

Henry Halkyer of Elk Grove, California passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 24, 2021 at the age of 83. Henry leaves behind his wife Neva of 55 years, daughters Enny Simmons, Claudia Halkyer, and son Anthony Halkyer, grandchildren – Nathan, Caroline, and William and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Henry was a very loving and affectionate grandfather, brother, uncle, father, husband and friend. Henry was born in Oruro, Bolivia South America the son of Alberto and Delores Halkyer with siblings, Theresa, Henny, Arturo, William, Heddy, and Ruth. He lived in Bolivia until 1965 when he immigrated to the United States. Upon arrival he was met by his brothers-in-law starting his journey in California. His wife and eldest daughter joined him in 1966. Henry and Neva raised their family alongside extended family in Hayward, CA. An electrician by trade in Bolivia, he continued his journeyman and licensure as an electrician in the United States. Simultaneously he completed his Associate of Arts degree in electronics from Chabot College in Hayward. He worked as an electrician for PG&E for many years and as a foreman for Reynolds Metals in Hayward up to his retirement in 1999. During his career he received many employee recognition awards for his dedication and ingenuity. In 2000, Henry and Neva retired in Elk Grove, CA. Here he enjoyed working in his garden, harvesting Bolivian hot peppers, lemons, grapes, plums, and pomegranates to name only a few. When not in his garden you could find him watching professional futbol (soccer) or working on projects. He continued as a skilled craftsman and jack-of-all trades throughout his entire life. Funeral services for Henry will be at the Good Shephard Catholic Church in Elk Grove, on Wednesday, December 29th at 11:00 am. Henry will rest at the Franklin Cemetery in Elk Grove, CA.
