OBITUARY

Our beloved, George Thomas Felton, Jr. (also known by his family and friends as Tommy), passed away in September 2021. George was born on July 25, 1949, to the late George Thomas Felton, Sr. and Eva Jane (Woodyard) Felton.

George grew up in Chapel Oaks, Maryland. As a child, George attended the Hemingway Memorial A.M.E Church. He graduated from Cub Scout Pack 587, and later became a Boy Scout. George was educated in the Prince George’s County public school system. He graduated from the Fairmont Heights High School in 1967.

George was very popular and had many friends. He was very athletic and active in sports, particularly in high school, where he played on the basketball and football teams and ran track. After high school, George worked at the Princess Gardens school in Lanham/Seabrook, MD. He received a diploma in computer technology from the Control Data Institute in 1970. George worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in Washington, DC, and for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company.

Years later, George moved to Sacramento, California, and worked many years for and retired from, the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. He resided in the Sacramento County suburb of Carmichael for most of his adult life. George loved California. He embraced the casual California lifestyle, and his common dress included a sweatshirt, blue jeans, and sandals.

George had one child, Karen Michelle Geiger, a devoted and loving daughter of whom he was very proud. They shared a love of traveling and “adventured” to several European countries together. After retiring, George did consultant work, traveling to various locations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. A few of George’s favorite destinations were the French Riviera, Indonesia, Spain, and Amsterdam.

George had many hobbies and anyone that knew him, knew that he was passionate about good music, good cooking and a glass of fine wine. His love of music also meant that he loved to dance and he was great at hand-dancing. His favorite chef was Julia Child and he loved watching her culinary shows so that he could sharpen his cooking techniques and artful presentations of food, while learning to cook new dishes and pairing the perfect glass of wine with the meals that he would cook. He would then excitedly share his favorite wines with loved ones. He possessed an appreciation of art, photography and the written word. He was well-read and had an impressive library of books. George was also skilled in the art of woodworking and electronics, constructing several beautiful sets of stereo speakers and installing wood plank ceiling and flooring in his home.

George leaves to cherish his memory: his loving daughter, Karen Michelle Geiger; a brother, Cozell (Jacqueline) Felton, Sr.; two sisters, Helen (Robert) Talbert and Rita Watts; one nephew, Cozell (Laniece) Felton; two nieces, Tracy (Dewey) Robinson and Rhonda Talbert, and a host of other relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by: his parents, George Thomas Felton Sr. and Eva Jane Felton; a niece, Rene’ Talbert; a nephew, Sterling Watts, and many dear relatives and friends.
