George Sherry Cummings Jr

George (Georgie) Sherry Cummings, Jr, 70, passed away from natural causes on December 26,

2024, in Jackson, California.

George was born on July 14, 1954, in Doylestown, PA, but eventually moved to California when his

dad, George, Sr., was transferred to the Moffett Field Naval Air Station. After graduating from

Piedmont Hills High School in San Jose, George too joined the Navy. Once leaving the Navy, he

ventured up to Amador County where he lived for decades around the area including Volcano, Pine

Grove, Martell, and finally back to Jackson where he spent his final years.

George is preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Mary Cummings. He is survived by his

sister, Geri (Rick) Hauck, many family members and friends.

George worked for many years as a prep cook, but he was a free spirit, and his true passion was his

trains, music, and poetry. He loved to study, visit and whenever possible take a ride on a train. He

played the guitar, both acoustic and electric, and wrote songs and poetry, all of which he enjoyed

sharing at times. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers, and due to his sister

and mom moving to Oregon, George grew fond of cheering on the University of Oregon Ducks

football team and a highlight of a trip to Oregon was finally getting to see them play.

He will be missed by his little sister, and longtime friends Patrick and Patricia.
